Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer - UK

 

 

MRX Technologies is an Australian-based engineering company with an expanding office in Derby, seeking experienced software engineers to help develop our range of advanced industrial measurement and control equipment for passenger and heavy freight railways.

 

Current project work is as diverse as instrumentation for automatic measurement of rail component wear (including wheels, brakes and rails), design and modification of road trucks to operate as rail vehicles and measure rail properties, through to the automatic operation of very long heavy freight trains.

 


Reporting locally to the Software Team Leader and working together with the office in Australia the major responsibilities will be:

 

  • To work as part of a small team to develop modules/applications to given deadlines
  • Design and develop new software modules to the specified software/engineering standards
  • Integrate and test software modules with associated hardware
  • Maintain existing systems currently deployed in the field
  • Create and maintain technical documentation in line with development
  • Coordinate development between the UK and Australian office where relevant
  • Investigate new technology for future development of existing systems

Essential Skills/Experience

 

  • BSc/BEng (Hons) in Computing, Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering  or similar
  • 3-5 Years OO Software Development Experience
  • Experience in software development for industrial or engineering applications. 
  • Working knowledge of C++
  • Previous use of version control (CVS,SVN)

 

Desirable Skills/Experience

 

  • Previous site work/field experience
  • Strong mathematical background
  • Database development exposure 
  • Working knowledge of C#, SQL

 

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

 

 

This is a Full-Time position with salary negotiable based on experience.

We develop, manufacture and provide support services for a range of specialised technology-based products involved in real time monitoring, modelling and control of trains and mining equipment.

In addition to our Australian operations we export about 30% of our products and services to the UK, South Africa, India and Hong Kong.

We are looking for an energetic person to join us as a Project Administrator. Ideally, applicants will have attained a tertiary level qualification (preferably in Business, Commerce or Engineering), or have significant working experience appropriate to the duties involved. They should also possess good organisational skills, computer proficiency, an analytical mind and the drive to succeed.
